Biodiversity Program Manager

SkyTruth is seeking a Program Manager to advance biodiversity protection using SkyTruth’s technology and data, including the 30x30 Progress Tracker—a platform that monitors global progress toward protecting 30% of the world’s lands and waters by 2030. Reporting to the Chief Impact Officer, this role will serve as the primary bridge between SkyTruth and the biodiversity conservation community, helping civil society organizations, governments, Indigenous Peoples, and local communities leverage SkyTruth tools to advocate for, implement, and monitor area-based conservation commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Partnerships & Engagement
Conduct stakeholder research at global, regional, and national levels to identify and prioritize new users, partners, and champions of SkyTruth tools.
Proactively conduct outreach and cultivate partnerships with NGOs, government agencies, journalists, Indigenous Peoples, local communities, and data providers, driving adoption and impact of the 30x30 Progress Tracker and other SkyTruth tools.
User Support
Gather and communicate user and partner feedback to inform tool improvements.
Support partners in applying SkyTruth tools to land and marine conservation strategies and campaigns.
Design and deliver presentations, demos, workshops, and trainings to build partner capacity and encourage tool adoption.
Communications
Represent SkyTruth in coalitions and events, both online and in person.
Develop and share insights, case studies, blog posts, guides, presentations, and proposals to highlight impact and support partner use.
Track global biodiversity events and advise on SkyTruth’s engagement.
Contribute to marketing, social media, and outreach to enhance organizational and tool visibility.
Strategy & Internal Collaboration
Collaborate with product teams to integrate user needs into tool development.
Help shape the long-term vision for SkyTruth’s biodiversity portfolio, informed by trends and emerging opportunities.
Identify and support cultivation of funding opportunities.
Key Attributes and Qualifications
5+ years’ experience in conservation advocacy, biodiversity monitoring, international environmental NGOs, or a related field.
Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and partnerships in biodiversity conservation, geospatial technology, or environmental advocacy.
Experience working with geospatial data and GIS tools.
Strong communication and facilitation skills, with experience designing and delivering presentations, workshops, and training sessions.
Experience engaging conservation NGOs, governments, or Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
Ability to translate between policy, technical, and advocacy communities.
Organized, proactive, and able to manage multi-stakeholder projects.
Desirable
Familiarity with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and 30x30.
Understanding of equity considerations in conservation, including the role of Indigenous Peoples and local communities in biodiversity protection.
Experience with user engagement strategies for digital tools.
Established professional network within the conservation community, or ability to build one quickly and strategically.
Strong research, writing, and proposal development skills to support fundraising and donor engagement.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time salaried position with an expected salary range of $95,000 - $110,000, with final compensation depending on skills and experience. Location
SkyTruth is a fully remote organization working across multiple time zones, so working hours may vary according to geography as well as operational and personal needs. Candidates can be located anywhere in the United States and must be able to reliably accommodate meetings across North American time zones. The supervisor for this position is based in the Pacific time zone. Periodic travel may be necessary, and team members are expected to attend in-person team retreats that are typically held twice per year.

Our Interview Process
Top candidates will be invited to schedule an initial 60-minute interview with our hiring manager. If advanced, you may be asked to complete a 1- to 2-hour take home exercise, followed by a panel interview with other members of the SkyTruth team.
